Job Description
The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner position at the Gloria Nelson Center (“GNC Family Clinic”) entails evaluating patient conditions and delivering care in adherence to California Medical Board regulations. As a key member of our healthcare team, the role involves providing patient care following protocols under the guidance of attending physicians, participating in patient management, case conferences, in-service training, and sharing an “on-call” schedule with other providers as necessary.
Job Duties:
- Evaluate and treat family medicine patients proficiently, including pediatric patients.
- Conduct complete histories and relevant physical examinations, assessing normal and abnormal findings in new and returning patients.
- Perform or request and review diagnostic studies as necessary based on patient evaluations.
- Administer, prescribe, and manage medications as appropriate.
- Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests, screenings, and therapeutic procedures like blood work.
- Prescribe physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology exams, and nursing services.
- Execute designated procedures upon demonstrated competency, following standardized procedures where applicable.
- Obtain informed consent when required.
- Address the age-specific needs of patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and diverse community members.
- Identify situations needing immediate physician attention and execute life-saving measures as needed.
- Foster collaboration among providers and coordinate community resources.
- Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement projects.
- Provide and organize patient education and counseling.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, including weekend clinic coverage as per provider availability.
- Fulfill other assigned duties.

- Ensure HIPAA compliance and treat member information confidentially.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Contribute to quality assurance/improvement activities.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record systems efficiently.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program; licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of California; certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is mandatory.
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary approach is preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
- Essential knowledge of preventive care and health maintenance is required.
- Possession of a current CPR certification is a must.
- Ability to effectively engage with the public across diverse ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds.
Responsible To: Medical Director or Clinic Director
Classification: Full or Part-Time Position, Non-exempt.
Salary Range: $115,000.00 – $190,000.00
