Restorative Certified Nursing Assistant (RNA)

Job Description

North Kern South Tulare Hospital District is looking for a Full-time Restorative Certified Nursing Assistant (RNA) who will assist in providing exceptional patient care to the residents of our Delano District Skilled Nursing Facility.

Duties/ Responsibilities Required:

  • Provide restorative nursing care to the Residents; give training or aid in areas of Activities of daily living, such as, but not limited to; grooming, toileting, dressing, ambulation, eating, positioning in and out of bed and/or wheelchairs, in accordance with current existing federal, state and local standards, as well as the facility established policies and procedures.
  • Provide restorative nursing care which assures the mobility status, emotional, social and medial/therapeutic needs of the Resident are met/maintained on an individual basis at level consistent with each resident’s maximum potential to attain, and as may be directed by the Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing Services, the Administrator and the attending physician for the Resident.
  • Communicate a complete picture of the restorative nursing care rendered for you, in all required documentation, as well as communication specific concerns and changes in Resident condition to the Charge Nurse.
  • Communicate with co-workers to foster an environment supportive of teamwork and congeniality.
  • Document specific progress and how the program was tolerated by Resident in daily restorative notes and summarize in weekly restorative progress notes.
  • Show respect in all activities to Residents and co-workers. Consideration is an integral part of the workplace.
  • Assure a safe and secure workplace by performing all restorative nursing care in a safe manner to ensure a minimum of accidents or injuries to self, Residents, co-workers, supervisors and visitors.
  • Observe infection control practices in all aspects of resident care procedures and equipment handling, to ensure a safe and healthy environment for residents, employees, and visitors.
  • Practice time-management skills by organizing all tasks and duties in the best and most efficient manner possible, while ensuring that all assigned Residents receive compassionate, safe and thorough care in a timely fashion, and all other duties are completed with the same considerations.
  • Read and follow each resident’s plan of care to ensure all RNA efforts work to ensure that the needs of the resident are met/ maintained on an individual basis at a level consistent with that resident’s maximum potential to attain and that the direct Resident nursing care is coordinated with all other resident services to achieve that end.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with Lead RNA, Director of Staff Development and Director of Nursing Services to give input as to supply levels, problems and/or suggestions, new ideas on any aspect of nursing services.
  • Assist to orient new Residents to the facility by familiarizing them with their rooms, bathrooms, call bells, station, dining room, activity room, etc
  • Complete daily charting entries and weekly summaries on all residents participating in the Restorative Nursing Program. These entries must be descriptive and the accomplishments measurable meet all requirements of the program.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must possess, as a minimum of a high school diploma or GED (high school equivalent) is preferred.
  • Must possess an active Nursing Assistant Certification from the State of California.
  • Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment in dealing with people.
  • Ability to accept/follow supervision and work independently as needed.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak and understand the English language.
  • Must have excellent work ethic, patience tact, and enthusiasm.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including having received the booster shot.

Education and Experience:

  • Active Nursing Assistant Certification from the State of California
  • Must possess an RNA Certificate

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and moving may be required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
